Who is Laura?

Here is Laura:

I found her in a basket of photos at an antique mall a couple of weeks ago. I am distressed that she was left without her true family. Therefore, I have adopted her.

I think this is a school picture. It appears to be from the mid-1920s and Laura did sign "Sincerely, Laura". Who is she and who did she give this portrait to?

She is being worked in to art projects. Laura will always have a home.

I was at the Salvation Army today. There was a set of Currier and Ives glasses.

I couldn't get all seven glasses. I purchased the one with a coupon inside.

Road to Rakkasah Day Two

Here is just a sample of our new troupe costumes:
Not the best color for me, but it is compensated by one of my favorite set of choreograhy since the first year I was in Rising Stars.

One Week

Malabrigo is one of my "new" favorite yarns. Last year when I started knitting again seriously I made two new friends with Malabrigo and Noro.

I finally got around to knitting Fetching http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTfetching.html with some Malabrigo Purple Magic. The intent was to reduce the stash since this year was in the "purple" stash. I ended up going to the LYS in a fit of madness and purchased three skeins of three colors.

Therefore, I made Mom a set of Fetching for her 80th Birthday (today) in Malabrigo Jacinto. There is enough yarn in the skein to knit up Calorimetry http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTcalorimetry.html. I found a wonderful button in my vintage collection.

I think the Malabrigo Golden Ochre will be another set of Fetching and Calormetry and the Malabrigo Pinot will be another Fetching. What to do with the leftovers?

I still have an Amanda hat to finish. It has been on the needles forever. It is one of those patterns that simply defeats me for no real reason.

And not to forget the Noro:

And lastly the Boston Red Sox:

Not bad for one week's knitting!

Road to Rakkasah Day One

It was Rakkasah call-in this morning. Every one in the US who wants to dance at Rakkasah calls one phone number to get a spot. Both Rising Stars (Sunday 4 pm) and Troupe Ala Nar (Saturday 7 pm) were able to get spots by 9:25 am. Once again I got Ala Nar in. I think I am five for eight for call in over the last five years.

New Years Socks

I had an audience in Starbucks while I was knitting the second sock yesterday. I guess the yarn lives up to its name "Razzle Dazzle".

I finished the first sock on New Year's Eve and the second earlier this evening.
I was watching TLC who showed a promo of their "Miss America" show. Miss Oregon and Miss Montana are both belly dancing for their talent which is shown in the promo clip. I have to remember to what the talent portion in a couple of weeks.
